What are Business Citations and Why You need Them?
Starting a business from scratch can be a scary process. This is not only for the brick and mortal business, but also for online businesses. One of the important things you can do to gain visibility for your new business is acquiring business citations. By definition, a business citation is a reference to your business's name, address and phone number which is accessible online. It is usually abbreviated as NAP which stands for Name, Address and Phone number. It is believed that Google uses business citations when evaluating the online authority of your business. You can treat them the way you treat website links. Unlike links though, citations don't need to be linked to your business's website in order for you to be credited for them.How do you find places to from which to get citations for your business?
There are many ways you can find them.
First, you can do a google search for business directory in your local area and you will get a list. This can be time consuming.
Another method is to use business citation services providers. These will help you list your business on websites that accept citation listings. It is easy but costs some money.
I personally prefer doing it myself because that way, I can control what information is displayed and have control over my business accounts on the respective sites.
